ROWENA THE SAILOR

Latest in the line of Rowena books has our pudgy heroine of Cape Cod fame (or is it infamy?) latching on but quick to the idea of taking sailing lessons at the local Gloucester yacht club. No sooner does Rowena get to know the older (by about two years) and glamourous yachtswoman Jennifer, than she hies it home to petition extra allowance for lessons and off around town for well paid odd jobs. The ensuing summer melee is all you'd expect it to be. Rowena helps win a race- but she's also gentled in the process and learns to appreciate a few more of the good things in life. Bright and realistic.
