You may remember her as winner of the Avery Hopwood award with Straw in the Wind. This is a novel of the Middle West, a small town human interest story, in which a city girl, of social background, marries a small town minister and tries to adapt herself to the community. Her sincere love for her husband helps her through the difficulties, and after his death, and the failure of finding herself elsewhere, she returns to the little town which has made a permanent place for itself in her life. It is not an important book, but it is thoroughly likeable and women who enjoy homely stories of real people will find it to their taste. Will rent better than it will sell.
