THE MESSY RABBIT

How ""our little rabbit' misses, in turn, a movie, a football game, a puppet show, a fire engine ride, a birthday party, and the circus--all because his room is so messy that he can never find his shoes, money, or whatever, in time to go off with his brothers and sisters. At last a friendly deer pops in and helps the left-behind rabbit clean up his room, and next time the circus come to town he is first in line. Nivola's syrupy old-fashioned style is as dead as her monotonous story, and her daughter's illustrations, in line and pastel blobs, are just a little more stylishly cute.
