Author and artist have successfully collaborated once again. The result? A merry mirthful peek at mothers' strange habits and peculiar preferences. They enjoy the same things children do, but oh, in what different ways! ""Mothers like food -- only such queer food"", asparagus and peas, and they never make pictures in their mashed potatoes! They like trees too, but ""they rarely hang by their knees from the branches"". Hats, they adore, but not pirate hats, or Fathers' hats or firemen's hats. From beds to books, to chairs, to music, to messes, observations of young children are here crystallized and verbalized. Pre-schoolers and beginning readers will chuckle and nod their heads, but will probably agree that mothers are nice to have around precisely for all the reasons listed at the end.
