This is one of the few cook books -- read in galley proof -- which I'd really like to own as a supplement to the indispensable standbyes. For it is definitely gauged to the limited budget, the small household, the constrictedspace of the city apartment dweller. It is imaginatively done -- practical -- and readily adaptable to any small household. Starting with basic principles -- continuing with an outline of desirable equipment and its cost -- listing emergency shelf and staple supplies. Then menus with recipes to match -- for use of packaged foods, for planned meals, for eating alone, for entertaining, for breakfast, luncheon, tea, dinner, supper. A good job -- and useful. Complete index.
