AMERICA

In terms of its broad characteristics- mountains, farms, cities, voices, music- Mrs. Tooze has given a poetic definition of our country in a short book which carries on her work in children's reading, a field in which she won wide recognition both through her bookstore in Evanston and through her travels as a story teller. The passages, set in simple blank verse, make no attempt at aggrandizement. They mark a simple faith in the good things of our country and in the possibilities for their growth.
