SHRINES OF OUR LADY

Forty eight shrines located the world over have been chosen and their stories told, in simple, unromanticized way. There is an acceptance of ""mysteries we cannot fathom"" behind the telling of each story. And glimpses of the people and the region and the conditions which highlighted the visions add depth to the telling. Rather deliberately Sister Mary Jean has chosen chiefly the shrines that are not universally familiar, whether the visit of Our Lady occurred to simple people, to religious, to sick --whether it happened in the open air or in existing shrines --whether in North or South America, in Europe or Asia. She has given by this means a sense of universal message.
