CHILDREN KNOW THEIR FRIENDS by Ruth W. Washburn

CHILDREN KNOW THEIR FRIENDS

Some psychological pointers about the handling of certain aspects of childhood, this is not as specific as Flanders Dunbar's Your Child's Mind and Body (Random House) and is more informal in presentation (the informality includes some illustrative- and not always successful- verse). The discussion here covers patterns of memory and behaviour; methods of discipline, and its need; the ways in which children find self-protection and compensation; the problem of the new baby; patterns of work and play; the relations between parents and teachers; and of course the value of friendship- and affection. Each chapter of theory is followed by an exemplifying case history- presumably from the author's experience... By no means a basic book, but additional reading in this field.
