HURRICANE YANK and THUMBS UP

Two war adventure stories, one of an American with the RAF, with fighting over the Channel, with raids over the Continent and secret mission and all the rest; the other a Marine story of the Pacific, in which two pals pull off all possible lucky breaks, from defence of Paris Island against impossible odds, to rescue of wounded and escape to Manilla, there to carry on with sensational success and escapes, until there are no planes left to fly and both men turn gunners with MacArthur's forces. I thought Thumbs Up the better yarn of the two, but neither one has any particular distinction -- they just rank as average run-of-the-mill adventure.
