A very slight story framework has been used to tie the factual material together in the adventures of a letter written to a little boy with mumps in the east by his friend in California. The letter takes an interesting journey by helicopter, plane and train -- and the facts themselves should make it good reading. But somehow the style is so flat and uninspired that its competence in relation to the jobs of the employees, the equipment of the U.S.P.O., the various phases of the journey is not enough to offset it. There have been several books on this subject; this offers more photographs than any of its predecessors and is more up-to-the-minute than my favorite on the subject (Pogo's Letter). Bound in boards with laminated cover.
