MURDER AMONG FRIENDS

Cal Miles, sheriff of Santa Teresa in southern California, is pitted against Sam Slaughter, private eye and mystery writer, when vintner Carlos D'Anzello is murdered, presumably by Pariano whom he had railroaded to jail twenty years before. A friend of the D'Anzello family, Miles protects them against Slaughter's dirty tactics, holds a steady course and prevents an unjust solution. Conscientious.
