Frankly, a disappointing book about a person that was, in herself, a thrillingly dynamic individual. The first third will be of interest to her friends and neighbors, though it is on the whole rather staid and colorless, but it fails to recreates a personality for those who did not know her. The biographical facts are superficial ones; the biographer has not succeeded in giving the intimate human touch. With chapter nine the book begins to be of interest to poetry lovers in general, to lovers of modern poetry in particular -- but it is unfortunate that the long introductory section cannot stand on its own merits as it may discourage some who would find the last two thirds rewarding.
