An addition to the Kew Series, this is definitely British in approach, and the data on varieties, on time of bloom, or merit and availability for garden use has to be weighed with this in mind. The book is designed not for the average home owner with limited exper, but for those particularly interested in the botany aspects, the scientific principles of classification. There are keys for identification, line drawings and color plates, a glossary. Some 67 family groups are covered, with brief descriptive introductory parag, and a selection of appropriate varieties. There is virtually no information on cultivation. This is really a handbook, for reference.
