KIRKUS REVIEW

When Ogden of the Orthological Institute, from his work on Basic English, stated we could say whatever we liked with a vocabulary of 8 words -- there was discussion and incredulity, but now Hooke and his committee at the University of London, by adding special Bible words, and listing 100 more as specially helpful for reading poetry, have provided a fresh and stimulating approach to an old study in rendering the New Testament with the basic 850 words. They are at work on the Old Testament, so keep a list of purchasers of this volume to take orders for the forthcoming. It is excellent for schools, children, for foreigners, students of all kinds.
