PERELMAN'S HOME COMPANION

Mandates from the maestro of multiple madnesses carry the willing reader from here to there, post to postage and a couple of in betweens with El Senor taking the ball out of many a court -- and leaving it where it lands. With every nerve aquiver he sluices away all the meringue from advertising; he envisions terrifying scenes of imaginary happenings among bigger brass and better homes and gardens; his myopia is cured by the dream windows that fast talking salesmen open for him; he is spurred (and mounted) by strange professional magazines; he squares his tiny shoulders and buys a pipe, considers zippers, snarls at the moving pictures; he buzzes dentists, hotels, mail order courses, in-laws; he targets the ""double-flowering fatuity and gorgeous variegated drivel"" of publishers' catalogs. ""Entombed in books...no longer available"" this may indeed lead to ""some sense of delicious revulsion"" among the culled of his cult as old bouquets prove to be all spice rather than lavender...Saucy, saucy.
