KIRKUS REVIEW

Not a field guide, but an exhaustive encyclopedia of information for technical reference shelves, botanical libraries, etc. The introductory material gives definitions, identification characteristics, significance of fruits, twig characters, buds, leaf soars, bark. Then come keys to Generic Groups -- ten classifications with Conifers and Broadleaved trees the main divisions. Under each specimen the facts are marshalled:- habit, leaves, flowers, twigs, bark, distribution, importance. Includes shrubs and vines.
