A concise summary of recent and current theologians of Europe is offered in this volume. While the larger number of those considered are Protestant, representatives of Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox thinkers are also included. Each chapter gives a brief background of the theologian under study, followed by an exposition of the main lines of his thought, and then the author's critique of the subject's position. A concluding chapter evaluates these current movements in the perspective of present developments. A competent, systematic introduction to contemporary European theological thinking, which should be very helpful to the student and the lay reader. The author teaches at the Boston University School of Theology.
