KIRKUS REVIEW

Studies of words have unfailing fascination for me -- and for a great many other people. Would it not be worth while to keep a customer list of people who are interested in the subject, and notify them of books such as this, and the recent Dictionary of Slang, Dictionary of American Usage, and so on? This book, in addition to being illuminating in many ways as to sources, history and use of words, is of constructive value in teaching methods for enlarging vocabulary, both written and spoken. A book that should have a sale through high school and college outlets, as well as the sale indicated above.
