One adorable red-haired drama queen deals with the unpleasantness of daily chores. Having donned her work clothes, she is reluctantly ready for dusting, vacuuming, window washing, raking, laundry, dishes and pet care. “Chores! Chores! Chores! What a bore, bore, bore!” she laments, in emphatic hand-lettered print. But dust she must. Supersaturated color, all the way to the edges, allows the reader an up-close and personal look at her work. Made for the earliest reader, with mostly monosyllabic words, the text is clear and readable. Unfortunately, when the text goes across the gutter, it is too easy for the reader to become confused and read straight across from left to right instead of reading the left page and then the right page. Too bad; this little throwback to the quaint days of weekly chores could be a lot of fun for both group sharing and solo emergent readers. (Picture book. 3-7)
