ISAAC AND SNOW

Snow closely resembles Carolina Snowball, the real, rare albino dolphin who was discovered near Sea Island, South Carolina about fifteen years ago. Her discoverer Isaac, though he supposedly longs to quit school and head out in search of a New York paycheck, is so sober, science-minded and sensitive that he's sure to stay around until Snow is saved from poachers and local residents who want to exploit the dolphin as a tourist attraction. In the background there's another animal lover, crippled, retarded Simon, who's willing to attempt murder to keep Snow from being taken to the Seaquarium for her own protection. But the rescue operation is geared less to suspense than the enjoyment of local color -- Snow's playfulness, grandmother Martha's black voodoo wisdom, Sea Island greenery, and small talk at the Red Rose cafe. Mildly pleasant sailing in shallow waters.
