KIRKUS REVIEW

Women's wear, lace-trimmed -- in a semi-sophisticated story of two girls, -- Christine, headstrong and defiant, and Alix, a Belgian, who for the sake of Christine's dead brother and parents, tries to smooth out Christine's errors. Christine ignores Paul, a right guy, and falls for the blandishments of Andre, philanderer. She goes off on a cruise -- is jilted -- and returns, pregnant. Alix sees her through, then, when Alix returns to blackmail the family, Alix takes both the stigma and responsibility to save them. Virtue has its reward -- and Alix and Paul are united. Seems a bit ""last war"".
