CONFESSIONS OF A GIGOLETTE

Breezy--and generally wholesome--anecdotes from a woman who worked for two years as an ""escort,"" a paid companion for dateless men. A college graduate set loose in the job market, Sally first works as an escort in Las Vegas, where she gets lousy pay, free dinners in fancy places, and the nightly challenge of convincing men that sex is not part of the deal. She goes on to Hawaii, where she has the sad job of entertaining young soldiers on R&R leave from Vietnam. Encounters with some real weirdos in New York and Miami convince her that escorting's no fun any more (which frankly it never seemed in the first place). Lots of padding and little insight: this should have been a magazine article, not a book.
