COBEAN'S NAKED EYE

Publisher: Harper

The New Yorker cartoonist who has discovered the wolf in every man, the omnipresence of embattled womanhood, and the furthest reaches of logic, is here collected for the delectation and edification of his many admirers. From long strips, to short spots, the illustrations -- and sometimes captions -- depict everything, from bums and barrooms, to dreams and disrobing, psychiatrists and patients, the Salvation Army and sports, irate parents and unwed mothers, mediums, floods and night clubs, children, animals, TV, art -- on and on in ludicrous and nonsensical sharp drawing. One of his favorite themes -- the undressing optic -- appears in many forms, at here and abroad, and as experienced by both men and women, and somehow doesn't stale. The whole is a book in which originality, broad humor and ribald fun have their way.
