ROVER'S REGATTA DAY

This unbelievably dumb piece of rubbish is set in small boats; the characters are cats and other animals; and what plot there is concerns Susie cat, who's waiting for her Rover on regatta day, and a mysterious ""hairy man"" who comes along in a paddle boat full of frightful monsters but turns out to be Rover hosting a dress-up party and all-day celebration. But it's all drowned out by the static: loud and busy pictures; inane, peripheral balloon-talk exchanges (Cat: ""I'm going below to put the Cattle on."" Bee: ""He! He! She means kirtle."" Kettle: ""I don't want to be put on and boiled! IT'S TOO HOT!""); and abysmal riddles and puns (""'Hurry up you're taking miaowers.' 'Oh no I am only taking mewnits!' Notes: MIAOWER-term used by cats when a minute seems like an hour""). Jokes without humor, frenzy without vitality, pure bilge of no interest whatever.
