KIRKUS REVIEW

The misadventures of Bruin, who terrifies the villagers, steals their apples and their sheep, and then gets into trouble with Reynard the fox, who catches his muzzle in an old tree stump, stretching it out of recognition. Two small children rescued him and brought him to see the error of his ways. Fantasy plus realism, with more story and more humor than the artist's Rufus the Fox, but there is a certain sophistication in the quality of the pictures, a medieval note which children may not like as well as adults think.
