The laws of libel and slander have always been questioned by those who have advocated the broadest possible freedom of speech and expression. This is a study of the law of libel, setting out both the criteria which determine whether or not libel has been committed, and also the recent developments in the law. Its discussion of such cases as the suits against The New York Times over the ad taken by Dr. Martin Luther King, and against The Daily News by Dr. Linus Pauling, is accurate. However, the book is not for the general reader but a specialized study for attorneys (or the potential Drew Pearson or Joseph Alsop).
