PRINCETON IN SPRING

Not as satisfactory a book as its predecessor, Fair Harvard, for the dependence here is wholly on photographs (beautiful ones as always, and particularly effective with as glamorous a subject as Princeton's lovely campus and charming surroundings). In Fair Harvard, expanded captions gave a meaty rounding out of the visual effect, with bits of history, personality, lore and legend and story. Here are only staid and definitive subject titles- no captions at all. And there is often a repetitive sense in inclusion of photographs too similar in exposure, adding little- other than burgeoning of spring, to the overall picture. Note price advance.
