AMERICAN LABOR STRUGGLES by Samuel Yellen

AMERICAN LABOR STRUGGLES

By

Publisher: Harcourt, Brace

Not a general and comprehensive history, but a specific account of the outstanding and significant clashes between labor and capital, marking certain developments and progressions in the history of labor and strikes. Ten struggles are chosen, from the history of the past sixty years, coal, steel, textiles and transportation were affected. Each one was characterized by a distinctive phase in the labor movement, but with one exception, all seem to prove that labor loses more than it gains by strikes. There is no alternative offered however. So far it seems it is a price that must be paid.
