Teasing silliness in the second person, maintaining that ""you"" have not only a mouse in your house but much more--as reiterated thus: ""Did you know there's an elf on your shelf and he talks to himself? You don't hear? That's because you've got a deer in your ear and an owl in your towel and a fish in your dish and a bear in your chair. . ."" and a few more. It all leads up to ""moons in the skies of your eyes whenever you shut them,"" and then to the sneaky point: that the mouse, beat, fish, and the rest are all to be found behind your eyes, when you're sleeping. A clever, disarming ploy, to be sure, though Munsinger's pictures don't encourage the dreamy drift: her pajama-clad little girl and all the imagined creatures mug playfully on cue, but their antics are obvious and their presence crashing.
