A chapter book featuring Boynton's watercolor cats, Chloe and Maude, whose escapades are endearing and familiar. In ""The Art Lesson"" (a version of which first appeared in Redbook in 1983), Maude, jealous of her friend Chloe's artistic ability, discovers her own exuberant style when she accidentally spills paint all over a roll of paper. Maude assumes a sophisticated new name, with personality to match, when she tires of her own simple moniker, in ""Chloe, Maude and Sophia."" And, in ""Overnight,"" when Chloe sleeps over at Maude's house, their dreams are interrupted by scary monster noises and vivid imaginings. But Maude saves them from a sleepless night by pointing her own imagination in a more pleasant direction. Enjoyable stories with happy conclusions, and very lively illustrations.
