KIRKUS REVIEW

An alphabet of ""actions"" consisting of lowercase present participles (adding, blowing, cutting, digging. . .) accompanied by close-up photos of black and white children performing the appropriate actions. The action device ensures a modicum of vitality and the pictures of clean, happy children in everyday clothing steer a widely acceptable middle course between the grubby and the glossy.
