KIT CARSON

Dependable merchandise, similar to others by this author- artist who seems to have found a formula that appeals. Here is fictional biography of a favorite hero, in a text that- to the discriminating reader- seems flat and uninspired, while the illustrations are florid and over dramatic. The story follows the birth and early life, the various jobs Carson did, his adventures,- fights with Indians, guiding the Fremont expedition, and so on. Somehow with the richness of his source material, Tousey should have been able to make a more lively story. But he has his market.
