KIRKUS REVIEW

Sanford Tousey has made a reputation which brings him sales, but actually he rarely rises above mediocrity in his fairly routine stories. This has the theme of young Val's efforts to earn a Mexican saddle for his mule, during the months when he and his family are making their way westward in a wagon train. So-so.
