THE GIRL IN THE BLUE PINAFORE

Belleport revisited, and Lydia Freeman is your little girl blue, a woman of indeterminate age but of course young in heart- generous too as she takes in an invalid artist and sets him back on his feet. He is Sherwin Prescott, alias Christopher Hurd, and he repays her by painting her portrait in a blue pinafore and later goes on to more profitable commissions. Lydia next houses some German refugees- finds as Christopher goes onward and elsewhere that it is one of them- Fritz- who belongs in her life on a permanent basis... A light form of sedation for that sedentary clientele.
