DINOSAUR JAMES

Taylor's first book is a neatly rhymed story about a small boy whose happy but monomaniacal passion for dinosaurs makes him a loner (cf. Will's Mammoth, 1989); he earns respect after he summons a real dinosaur to deal conclusively with a bully. A pleasantly light touch, the popular subject, and Taylor's deft, sturdily outlined, cartoonlike illustrations should earn this a ready audience.
