KIRKUS REVIEW

Another first rate collection of stories and poems for young children, to be read aloud. Time-tested stories and plenty of them. Favorite fables and legends, animal stories and tales about modern ""personalities"" such as steam engines, trolley cars and automobiles. However, the emphasis is on the old stories which the reader will remember from his childhood -- The North Wind and the Sun, The Bell of and His Cat etc. Stories by Alice Dalgliesh, Eleanor Frances Lattimore, Wanda Gag and others provide the contemporary touch. Sketches of the decorative curlycue school by Theresa Kalab, and a peculiarly old-fashioned format reminiscent of the Chatterbox books.
