I found this an altogether delightful book. Dr. Mathews has always had a charmed pen, a keen mind and a nice sense of humor which has kept him on many a very shaky fences until the appropriate moment to jump forward -- and forward he has always insisted upon going, leading more than his own generation. Here is the story of his life, his faith, but more the life and faith of his generation. Don't limit its sale to the religious table. Everyone knows Shailer Mathews, Dean Emeritus of the Divinity School at the University of Chicago, and many will welcome his autobiography.
