KIRKUS REVIEW

There's a history of Russia that might find its place in school and college libraries,- an objective, non-political history. The geography of the country, life under the early princes, Mongol conquerors, Muscovite Tsars, the full flowering of holy autocratic Russia, the uprising of the serfs, the impoverishment of the aristocracy, the development of trends which culminated in Revolution and Terror, the economic and educational reconstruction, the achievements the privations of the Five Year Plan. Then again war- and rehabilitation under way.
