With a voluminous amount of material to select from, Elinor Parker has done an exceptional job of picking and grouping both the familiar (e.g. ""Tinturn Abbey,"" ""Lines Composed Upon Westminster Bridge"") and lesser known poems of Wordworth. Among the first selections-- all nature poems which are placed under the heading ""The Still Sad Music of Humanity"" form an outstanding group; among these are the sensitive and brief Lucy poems, ""We Are Seven,"" and ""The Reverie of Poor Susan."" Throughout are appropriate comments from the journals of the poet and his sister. In the last part, the anthologist gives a sampling of Wordsworth's political poetry-- an important segment of his work.
