KIRKUS REVIEW

A perplexing and unappealing title for a book that is really a quite delightful odd bit of scientific travel adventure. The search for electric eels meant Para, Brazil, to the people ""In the know"", so the scientist and his associates (his wife listed as Artist), went there. The are simply the theme ; the actual book deals largely with impressions of what particular part of Brazil, the town, the people, the part the Church plays, the Jungle, the scientific findings. Limited by scientific aspects, but those interested in odd corners of the world will like it.
