Tiberia, Tibby for short and almost not too long for this world, accepts the offer of urbane Victor Farringdon to stay at the old estate, The Dunes--down the eastern seaboard a piece--which he says he is planning to convert into a luxury resort. Actually it had been the scene of a small pogrom (seven servants) and the former owner's diamonds had disappeared. During Tiberia's stay she can't avoid the medical attentions of a Dr. Myrna Klee who--unknown to her--is trying to make her remember, remember. . . . Quicksand Gothic, you might say, and whereas it will also disappear without a trace, it still is differently plotted and somewhat better written than most.
