BRADFORD MASTERS by Sherman Baker

BRADFORD MASTERS

By

Publisher: Dutton

A certain worldliness, sympathy, and a very occasional overlay of psychology for the story of Bradford Masters, attractive, irresponsible, and always on the run from an early, unhappy childhood, a later sterile marriage. With no job, no wife, and no cash, Brad's financial and moral instability reaches an impasse as he breaks with Gwen-whom he didn't want to marry, as his father's bankruptcy jeopardizes his homestead, and as he falls in love with Jean, pregnant by the husband she had just divorced. Determined to salvage Jean, Brad buckles down to a job to carry her through pregnancy, slips back, only once or twice, into the old routine with Gwen, and eventually gets on his feet and finds some measure of solvency and stability with Jean...No literary high marks here- but a certain readability.
