KIRKUS REVIEW

This book consists of thumb-nails sketches of some of the great figures in the foreign missionary movement. While brief accounts are given of the work of such men as Carey, Judson and Herrison, the main body of the book is devoted to contemporary personalities with whom Sherwood Eddy has been associated for fifty . Appreciative and discerning appraisals are given of the contributions made by figures as Robert Wilder, Henry Luce, Ida Soudder, Samuel Evemer, Albert , Robert E. Speer, . Stanley Jones and John R. Hott. One could only wish that this volume might have included an account of the life and work of Sherwood who was the friend and associate of most of those he writes about. Protestant, ministers and layman interested in missions will find this volume stimulating and interesting for supplementary reading in mission study classes.
