A serious, mature book, but pertinent for the age level where the interest may lie, this is a novel of the effect of 14 years of ""cold peace"" on the Basque people. The group concerned fought in the Spanish civil war until, defeated at the end they were classed as ""reds"" and henceforth reviled. As their histories of escape and imprisonment are followed, we are given a segment of the Spanish problem that is worthy of attention.
