KIRKUS REVIEW

Not for years has a more needed book been published. Prayer has become a lost art, an enigma for the answer to which your customers have been seeking help and enlightenment in the numerous cults of Yoga, New Thought, etc. To these enquirers you may confidently recommend Contemplative Prayer. Father Hughson, order of the Holy Cross, a high churchman of the Episcopal Church has written a simple, powerful and practical book. In its reality, it reminds us of that masterpiece of Mrs. Herman's, Creative Prayer, but this should prove a better starting point. It is the ideal Lenten book for groups or individual devotions and it is a book to constantly keep on your shelves. From his long association with Father Huntingdon the author is widely known and will be widely read.
