KIRKUS REVIEW

The story of a conservative, tradition-bound old Englishman caught by the of German invasion when on holiday in the Jura mountains, and delegated to take two children to England and safety. In their checkered progress across invaded France, he requires other children, of different nationalities and temperaments and backgrounds, and it is yet another child -- a German Jewish child -- who makes possible their final escape across the Channel. A first rain yarn.
