KIRKUS REVIEW

Here's a Boys' Life of Ethan Allen, and a good job. The Holbrook Ethan Allen has inspired fresh interest in this dramatic figure of the days when our country was in the making, and older boys have seized upon it avidly, given the chance. But some parents -- and most librarians -- have felt it pretty strong meat, and wished for the substance in less lusty form. Here is the answer, a biography which gives the story and portrays the man as the virile, intensely human, naive, egotistic patriot with a touch and more of the stuff of which heroes are made.
