THE NATION TRANSFORMED

This fourth volume in the American Epoch series has been edited by an Associate Professor of History at Columbia University and it deals with ""The Gilded Age"" (more gilt than gold) which began with the Philadelphia Exposition of 1876 to the St. Louis Exposition of 1904. During this time an industrial society was created in a period of great contrasts of wealth and poverty and Professor Diamond covers the ""social, economic and intellectual history"" of these years.
