This reads suspiciously like a book subsidized by the public utilities and the home economics industries. The author gives lavish praise to the phases of mechanical progress which has affected home life. He presents the historical background and then brings it up to the minute, whether his subject is refrigeration, cooking stoves, radios, lighting fixtures, electric gadgets. He thinks every husband should be first aid to the ailing house, and tells them how. Practical hints for best value out of new equipment. Good program material for women's clubs, as a variation on culture, and good sales talk for traveling salesmen. It's not dull -- but will it be read? I wonder.
