The contributors to this symposium:- psychiatrists, pastors, theological professors,- have at least one common conviction, namely, that ""it is in the minds of men that defenses of peace should be constructed"" -- and goes on- ""peace among nations, among individuals and within individuals."" Among them are to be noted some of the leading figures in the movement to bring about an alliance of psychiatry and religion in our approach to the problems of our day. Psychiatrists such as Menninger, Binger and Funkel, pastors such as Bonnell and Foster, theological professor such as Paul E. Johnson, Frederick C. Grant and Seward Hiltner are recognized leaders in this field of endeavor. Here we find interpretations of the psychiatrists' view of religion, the clergy's view of psychiatry and many suggestions as to how the two may helpfully join forces in the minister's counselling and in the psychiatrist's practice. A stimulating book by those who know their subject and can discuss it with clarity and objectivity.
